My Capsule Wardrobe

My Capsule Wardrobe

Including tips on what staple pieces you could add to your own wardrobe.

Finally!

We made it to our new and improved capsule wardrobe.

(If you missed my previous posts on why we should consider a capsule wardrobe and also how to create your own capsule wardrobe please follow the links here:)

As I mentioned in those previous posts, below is my own carefully curated, simplified capsule wardrobe.

The Blazer.

Everyone needs to own, at the very least, one blazer. Blazers are THE most versatile items in anyone’s wardrobe. They have the ability to transform any look. They create a more polished and well-presented appearance.

Jeans and a t-shirt, add a blazer. Jeans and a jumper, add a blazer. Dress, add a blazer. Even joggers and a T-shirt? Yep, you guessed it, add a blazer.

Blazers will stand the test of time and will always be in style.

Clearly I am rather fond of a blazer and this was the first piece I added into my capsule wardrobe.

Jeans.

I live in jeans. Jeans make me happy. They are my security blanket. If I stray away from jeans and get a little crazy by wearing a pair of trousers, I feel uncomfortable and insecure until I remove them.

With so many options, colours, and styles, you can still create a whole host of different outfits. In addition, Jeans will forever be fashionable. They will never go out of style. Therefore a safe bet for the fashion-conscious when creating a capsule wardrobe.

My preferred style is a straight or skinny leg, predominantly blue in colour.

I added 7 pairs back into my wardrobe. Six Blue pairs, one Black pair.

My all time favourite pair.

Knitwear

Knitwear will always have a home in my wardrobe.

I am forever cold. Even when we transition into spring/summer, there will still be a few light-weight knits residing there.

In addition, wearing a jumper is like wearing a hug and I will not be told otherwise!

However, cardigans seem to be increasing in popularity lately and this just makes my heart happy. I have my eye on this beautiful one from & Other Stories currently. It would absolutely make for a great addition!

T-shirts and Shirts.

T-shirts are my usual go-to for day to day. The best quality for the price I have found is these ones.

I reach for shirts when I plan on making a bit more of an effort. Paired with jeans, it is still a laid back outfit, however, provides a smart/casual aesthetic.

Miscellaneous.

The above items are my core wardrobe and the pieces I reach for the most.

In addition, there are a few extra pieces that complete my Capsule wardrobe:

  • A dress: Preferably one that can be dressed up or down, provides a much more versatile piece.
  • Faux leather trousers: A bit more dressy and yet still a versatile piece.
  • A couple of Jazzy tops: You know the ones. The items you reach for when you are going for the ‘jeans and a nice top’ look.

In Conclusion.

Once you have mastered your own personal style (here)

You have researched some styling tips (here)

You are ready to create your own capsule wardrobe. I cannot recommend it enough. It has completely changed my morning routine for the better.

I need to make much better choices about where my time goes and the Capsule wardrobe is the first baby step in the right direction.
